Last Holiday is a wonderful romantic celebration of the healing power
of good food. Queen Latifah plays the role of a New Orleans shop
assistant who is diagnosed with a fatal disease, and decides to spend her
final days in a grand European hotel, where the kitchen is run by the
world-famous Chef Didier (Gerard Depardieu). In among the effete and
carelessly wealthy clientele, she is a breath of fresh air, and Didier and
his staff are captivated by her enjoyment and enthusiasm. And life has
another shock for her in this modern adaptation of a 1950 Alec Guiness
film, based on a short story by JB Priestley.
