This performance of TASTE is the first collaboration between Screen Bites and
Artsreach, rural Dorset's arts development agency. Louise Page's play Taste is all
about the things that we at Screen Bites promote - food, rural farming communities,
and local distinctiveness.
The play looks at the changing face of rural living and explores the role of food at
the centre of life’s rituals. The piece follows the seasons as it tracks 60 years of
change in the English countryside. With a cast of four, and using music and dance,
Taste explores our relationship with the land and its ownership and the impact of
outsiders in the countryside. While the action progresses on stage, a chef will be
preparing food, and audiences are invited to join the cast to sample and share food
that has been created in each scene.
Vegetarian curry, apple crumble and local cheeses form an important part of the
play, and Screen Bites will also be offering its traditional tastings of food grown and
produced locally.
Taste started its theatrical life in Normandy, so cider will be the drink on offer, as
well as French wines on sale in the hall. |
